Closet Confidential Article

Hair tied in an impeccable pony-tail, Lauren answers the door at her real life, dollhouse like home in Chelsea to find me excitedly waiting to see what’s behind closed doors. A perfect nude mani grabs me by the hand and ushers me inside. Wearing black, perfectly ripped jeans and a bright knitted jumper paired with teams of jewellery, my first thought is, wow, how does she do it! My second thought is… that makeup is flawless, where can I get myself that face?! Pulling off rock chick, trendy, and chic styles all in one outfit must be a hard task! Especially for first thing on a Thursday morning!
The up and coming model flies open the door to her dressing room to reveal a cute, well organised walk in wardrobe, hidden behind a vintage inspired bedroom. Rail upon rail of fun, quirky clothing items are screaming my name as I stand drooling, wishing I had a wardrobe alike. ‘Here’s the start of what I wish to be my own shop sized wardrobe’ she says in a soft toned voice, followed by a giggle while perfectly cupping a Starbucks mocha frappuccino. Every aspect of this girl I love already and the interview hasn’t even started! We sat on the plush, French style bed, making ourselves very comfortable, giggling and starting the girl talk. I can imagine us becoming the best of friends, strutting around Chelsea, linking arms looking for the perfect pair of jeans, which is an impossible task. I really can imagine it, and so the interview begins.

Describe your style in three words;
‘Rocker, Bohemian, laidback’ Lauren is quite clearly a very chic, classy looking girl, however through her style and fashion sense, she likes to have fun and is just an ordinary young girl who doesn’t dress perfectly everyday (however she still looks flawless nevertheless) ‘I like to wake up on a morning and chuck together an outfit in minutes and whatever I come up with, I stick with, there was a reason I chose to pair the things together so in some crazy way it must work!’ Her bubbly personality shines through from the start, and unlike most models making something of themselves in the tough world of fashion, she is careless…yet still so chic!

What are your three favorite shops;
‘Urban Outfitters is my total fav! It’s so fun and quirky, it’s like me in shop form’ Lauren says excitedly. I can totally imagine her racing around the shop on a skateboard which they’ve recently started selling in store. ‘I love the fun shirt dresses they sell, you can dress them for any occasion imaginable, too cute’ ‘I’m also a big fan of shorts, any type of shorts and I’ll wear them, I also LOVE the House of Holland short collection, amazing!’ Clearly very excited thinking about Urban Outfitters, Lauren proceeds to mention how much she adores charity shops, which is something I’d never expect to leave a models mouth! ‘I buy vintage shirts which are around £2 and I sew into them with different fabrics and threads, it’s so fun on a dull afternoon, especially when you’re getting something gorgeous from it at the end’ ‘Zara is also another favourite of mine, the clothing is so classy and business like, however teaming a blazer with a pair of ripped jeans and a slogan t-shirt it’s a comfortable everyday outfit which I’m a big fan of’

What would you wear to your dream job interview;
‘A jumpsuit, jumpsuits are my absolute favourite item, wear them anywhere, any time of the day and you’re sure to be noticed as a stylish chick’ I remember I tried on a jumpsuit in Topshop at London and I was so excited to see how fabulous it made me look… I guess I’m not a jumpsuit person. ‘Team a jumpsuit with a clashing pair of killer wedges and a leather biker jacket with masses of jewellery and you’ll win anybody’s heart’ ‘That’s exactly what I’d wear, make an impact, if you stick in their mind you’re set for life!’

Currently what are your three favourite trends;
Flicking through her Tumblr and Instagram account on her iPhone with a perfect rosy pink pout, Lauren skips through hundreds of outfits and current trends to find the best three to share with us. ‘Cut out biker boots, forget Doc Martens for a while, cut out biker boots covered in buckles are the ones to wear right now, and I know I can’t get enough of them, anywhere, anytime, you’ll see me in a pair!’ I’m also a big fan of cut out biker boots, however I won’t look half as good as Lauren in them so I might put them back in the box until next year. ‘Vintage shirts found in charity shops are also a favourite and key item in my wardrobe, I have rails full of up-cycled £2 charity shop shirts from peoples grandma’s closets, Urban Outfitters have some gorgeous ones but nothing beats a £2 shirt you’ve customised yourself’ ‘I also love tartan, it’s a rock chick pattern which needs to be teamed with chains and lots of leather but I’m totally willing to try and pull off the leather pants tartan combo!’

What are the best items you have ever purchased;
‘My favourite item has to be a black leather shoulder bag, with tassels hanging from it, it’d red Aztec print on the front and it’s such a rock chick yet boho piece in my wardrobe, it’s very controversial’ and out she pulls the fabulousssss bag from the closet. Draped in tassels which nearly touch the floor, the bag dances at every footstep as she struts across the bedroom floor.

Flat Plans

Above are the flat plans I created before making my magazine, I gathered research by looking at other magazines from a similar genre to gain inspiration of layouts, I mainly used Company magazine as I found that their layouts most suited my target audience as they were young and fun with a lot of visual aspects whereas Vogue magazine had basic, minimal layouts due to their target audience being older.
